Meet Government guidelines

Under the latest Government guidelines, every school has a responsibility to safeguard their pupils and minimise the risk of serious abuse.

This includes measures to prevent cyberbullying, self-harm and predator grooming.

Guidelines on cyberbullying

As part of a mandatory anti-bullying policy, Securus helps local authorities, schools and grids for learning to follow guidelines laid down by DCSF, including measures to:

  • Apply a policy to monitor electronic messages and images
  • Monitor all e-communications used on a school site or as part of school activities off-site
  • Work with pupils and parents to make sure new communications technologies are used safely
  • Teach children safe internet behaviour
  • Update internet blocking technologies continually and block harmful sites

Every Child Matters

By alerting staff to potentially dangerous incidents, such as self-harm, abuse or attempts at predator grooming, Securus provides compliance with Every Child Matters requirements.

Not only is evidence captured to provide appropriate help to a child who is at risk, pupils also learn what online behaviour is unsuitable and how to stay safe.

Installing Securus shows you are committed to your duty of care and reassures parents that their children are protected from harm at school.

Becta best practice

Securus directly supports Becta’s key measures for limiting e-safety risks, including:

  • Implementing, measuring and evaluating school policies for e-safety
  • Providing the right infrastructure and technology
  • Helping to educate staff, parents and pupils
  • Raising school performance, standards and inspection
