| ‘This is a real school with real kids
and they will and do send abusive messages.
The pupils here are bright and innovative and
will do their best to get past any managed ICT
system. Securus has given us the ability to
catch the kids and it has also taught them the
correct way to behave and what will happen if
they don ’t.’ |
Maurice Cooper, ICT Coordinator, Bridgemary
Community Sports College, Hampshire.

““We
have had instances with pupils bullying
other pupils via email, Securus is
vital in a situation like this because
bullied children will not tell you they
are being bullied.
The software can keep an eye on email,
word files and deleted material, it can
help us
to reveal who is being bullied and by whom,
helping you to nip that particular situation
in the bud. Securus have provided great
support; they really are the most helpful
company I
have ever worked with. ”

Tony
Ryan, Assistant Head, King’s College,
Surrey.
As quoted in The Guardian

“When we started using SECURUS software,
we were getting 60-70 incidents of abuse of
the school internet a week – including
cyber bullying. Now it’s down to two
or three. If you’re tough from the outset,
pupils will respect you. I have now run
SECURUS in two schools and it has provided
an unparalleled
level of protection for students. ”

John Cain, Headteacher, Reigate School, Surrey.
|
““Since
the introduction of SECURUS software on all
the school's computers
the incidence of students accessing inappropriate
web sites or inputting inappropriate comments
in any part of Microsoft Office has been almost
completely eliminated. It is a very powerful
tool that helps keep students on task in lessons
and protects them from the undesirable aspect
of the world wide web.” |
Roger Field, Governor and IT Manager, Virgo
Fidelis Convent Senior School, London.

'We were sceptical about the free trial, but
once we had it we did not want to let SECURUS
go. Until we saw this, we didn't realise how
out-of-control our school was in terms of chat
rooms...Previously, we were only touching the
tip of a barely perceptible iceberg. For the
first two weeks of operating Securus, we were
banning sites left, right and centre, including
chat rooms we didn't know existed.
I
believe that every school should have
this software.”
|
Allan Maule, Network Manager, Talbot Heath
School, Dorset.
|
|
“Our research results were shocking.
The violation reports generated by the software
showed that the older children were accessing
unsuitable websites and could create, transmit
and receive WordTM files containing bullying
and threatening content. Sending things internally
on the network in WordTM documents containing
bullying, innuendo and explicit material couldn’t
previously be prevented or captured. Now
it can. SECURUS was the only solution we
could find that fully met all our requirements. ”
|
David Harris, Headteacher, Marjory Kinnon
School, Middx.
|
|
“We
are impressed with the software. It has
already alerted us to an e-mail situation
which had the potential to lead a pupil
into a difficult liaison. All of our
pupils
are
vulnerable as a result of their varying
Special Educational Needs and so their
protection has
high priority for us. The Securus software
enables us to protect them from inappropriate
invasive web sites and alerts us to any
ill considered and potentially dangerous
access.
In short it is assisting us to carry out
our growing obligations with relation
to child
protection ”

Moya Zenonos, Head of ICT and Business Studies, The Matthew Arnold
School, Middx.

“Teachers would keep an eye on students
in class but it was impossible to know what
they were doing all the time and we were aware
that some children were doing things that they
shouldn’t. I recommended that we try
Securus because we wanted to see what was going
on. It’s been very successful. We believe
Securus makes children think about the proper
use of ICT and helps prepare them for the real
world. They are learning to become independently
appropriate users.”

“We have managed to use teaching time
more efficiently through running Securus and
we have noticed attempts to misbehave on the
system have been dramatically cut and that’s
an understatement! With the support of our
SMT we can use Securus to its full effect – a
zero tolerance approach to misuse not only
focuses the children but protects our network
as well.”

Nigel Edwards, Rodborough School
|
|
“I
feel all schools should have this software.
However it is only as good as the
action you take following the flagging of issues
and problems. Putting in the software does
not solve the problem. Unless there is a sustainable
system in place to action the findings, a great
opportunity will be missed.”

Paul
Spencer-Ellis, Head – Royal Alexandra
and Albert School, Reigate.

|
“The
high level of unacceptable activities found
by SECURUS convinced us that we needed
to keep it, but finding budget was an issue.
Luckily, there were various payment options
available and the people at SECURUS could not
have been more flexible and helpful in advising
us of the best options. There was never any
question of us giving up the solution once
we had seen its impact.”
|
Jon Davies, Assistant Head, Royal Alexandra and Albert School
|
|
“Without
SECURUS we could not allow PCs with internet
and email access in the Boarding
houses. However, with SECURUS we can allow
them unsupervised access and feel confident
that no misuse of the system can take place.”
|
John Messer, The Ashford High School
|
|
“We
have a system which, by its stealthy but
persistent nature, will allow us to, not
only monitor appropriate use effectively but
recall past misdemeanors, should the need for
additional evidence be necessary, in order
to make a case to parents.”
|
Mark
Lynch, Assistant Head – Norton Hill
School
|
|
“What we have is an educational network
that is monitored to protect students and to
help focus the students on their learning.
SECURUS is impressive and as far as I’m
concerned would be as equally valid in any
institution where students are being educated,
whatever their age and abilities.”

"Norfolk
County Council Children's Services ICT Solutions,
offer Securus as a managed service
for our primary schools and a stand alone package
for high schools.
" The service compliments our existing filtering
and security systems and enables schools to
be proactive in tackling the issues of computer
misuse and time spent 'off task' rather than
focusing on the work pupils should be doing.
" By implementing Securus it was found that the
amount of 'off task' activity goes down over
quite a short period of time. Schools using
Securus can be confident that their network
is constantly being monitored for any infringements
of their Acceptable Use Policy, which can also
help as part of a school's Anti-Bullying Policy.
" Securus have been helpful at every stage of
us implementing the product in line with our
existing systems and infrastructure. They have
been very accommodating in developing the system
with requests for additional features and functionality,
and we continue to work together to enable
a robust system to protect our children for
the future."
