The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), which focuses on removing child sexual abuse content that is hosted anywhere in the world, has published its annual report for 2018. Findings include:105,047 URLs were confirmed as child sexual abuse images or videos in 2018, and the UK hosted 0.04% of these child sexual abuse URLs, the lowest ever recorded since their work began 23 years ago. However, CEO Susie Hargreaves OBE says:
"Despite us removing more and more images than ever before, and despite creating and using some of the world’s leading technology, it’s clear that this problem is far from being solved."
